Jason Gillespie not interested in Pakistan all-format coaching

Jason Gillespie has expressed no interest in taken up Pakistan all-format coaching following the resignation of Garry Kirsten.

The Pakistan red-ball coach is currently in Australia with the Pakistan team who are on the white-ball tour. The former Aussie pacer was given an interim white-ball coaching role by the Pakistan Cricket Board after parting ways with Kirsten.

However, it was reported that the top brace in the board is considering to acquire Gillespie’s services in the shorter formats as well.

When asked about the offer from the PCB during a conversation with Australian media, Gillespie responded that he has only taken the “responsibility of interim coaching in the white ball format, and he is not interested in the full-time role”.

“I have not given my name for coaching, the purpose of coaching the red-ball in Pakistan cricket was to spend time with my family,” he told reporters. “I love coaching, but I think I can’t stay out of the house for 11 months, I don’t think I will be able to handle it mentally.”

He joined the Pakistan team in April this year as the red-ball coach.
