A Muslim mayor in Michigan state has refused to meet former president Donald trump during his recent campaign in Dearborn.
Abdullah Hammoud publicly rejected an invitation by Republican candidate Donald Trump, calling out his “Muslim ban”.
The Dearborn’s first Muslim mayor also accused the Democrats of creating the space for Trump.
He voiced his opposition to Donald Trump’s visit, reminding public of the ex-president’s “Muslim Ban”, an order that imposed travel restrictions on individuals from several majority-Muslim countries, including Libya, Iran, Syria, Somalia, and Yemen.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Hammoud wrote: “The architect of the Muslim Ban is making a campaign stop in Dearborn. People in this community know what Trump stands for — we suffered through it for years.”
He added that he has refused a sit down with him although the requests keep pouring in. He said that Donald Trump will never be his president.
The Muslim mayor also slammed Democratic leaders, saying that their unwillingness to stop funding and enabling a genocide created the space for Donald Trump to infiltrate Muslim communities.
