AI technology helps diagnose broken bones now

Experts have found recently that AI technology can help doctors in early diagnosis of broken bones in X-rays.
According to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), artificial intelligence has the ability to quickly and efficiently identify broken bones when doctors analyze X-rays.

Research shows the technology is safe and can speed diagnosis, reduce stress on clinicians and even reduce the need for some follow-up appointments, the institute says.

Four AI tools will be recommended for urgent care in England while further evidence is gathered on the technology’s benefits.

AI won’t work alone – every X-ray will be reviewed by professional medical experts.
The institute also says that broken bones are overlooked in 3 to 10 per cent of cases — the most common diagnostic error made in emergency departments.
