Ayatollah Khamenei claims “axis of resistance” will not end with martyrdom of Yahya Sinwar

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said that the “axis of resistance” will not end with the martyrdom of Yahya Sinwar.

In one of his statements, Ali Khamenei said that Yahya Sinwar caused irreparable damage to the enemy on October 7, 2023, he was a prominent symbol of resistance against Israel.

He went on to say that the journey of resistance would continue after the martyrdom of leaders. He added that the axis of resistance will not end.

Khamenei stressed the resistance front will move forward although the martyrdom of Yahya Sinwar is a big loss and painful for Hamas. Hamas is alive and will remain soth , the Supreme Leader said and vowed to always stand by the resistance forces.

It should be noted that martyred Yahya Sinwar was an architect of an attack carried out on Oct 7, 2023 on Israel.

He had assumed the office of Hamas chief in July this year after the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh.

Following are strong candidates to replace Yahya Sinwar as Hamas’s leader.

Khaled Mashaal: Former Hamas leader who survived an Israeli assassination attempt in 1997 and now lives in Qatar.

Marwan Issa: Hamas’ deputy military leader, reportedly killed by Israel in March, although Hamas has not confirmed his death.

Mohammad Sinwar: Yahya’s brother, a veteran commander of Hamas’ armed wing, who has survived several Israeli attempts on his life.

Khalil al-Hayya: Sinwar’s deputy, who led Hamas’ team in indirect ceasefire talks with Israel.

Mahmoud al-Zahar: A surgeon by profession, known for his strict views on Israel, who survived an Israeli assassination attempt in 2003.

Mohammad Shabana: A seasoned Hamas soldier, accused by Israel of developing a network of tunnels in Gaza.

Rawhi Mushtaha: Sinwar’s close aide, who co-founded Hamas’ first security battalion in 1980.
