Dutch court convicts Hafiz Saad Rizvi, Maulana Ashraf Jalali for ‘incitement to kill’ Geert Wilders

A Dutch court has sentenced Hafiz Saad Rizvi, head of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan, and Maulana Ashraf Jalali, leader of Tehreek e Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLY), for issuing a fatwa on the murder of anti-Islamic Dutch politician Geert Wilders.

According to the decision of the court, TLP chief Hafiz Saad Rizvi has been sentenced to four years and TLY leader Maulana Ashraf Jalali to 14 years.

The court has also sentenced former Pakistan cricketer Khalid Latif to 12 years for inciting the murder of anti-Islamic Dutch politician Geert Wilders, who had announced a competition for blasphemous sketches.

In one of his videos in 2018, Khalid Latif announced a $23,000 reward for the killer of Geert Wilders.

The court tried and sentenced these three Pakistanis in their absence.

The Dutch government had informed the Parliament that a request was made to Pakistan regarding the extradition of the three Pakistanis, but there was no response.

It should be noted that there is no agreement between the Netherlands and Pakistan on legal assistance and extradition of wanted suspects.

Dutch politician Geert Wilders had announced a sketch contest in 2018, which drew strong protests from Muslims worldwide, after which he canceled the contest.
