TikTok is considered a video sharing app but now it is ready to give tough time to WhatsApp directly.
Yes indeed, the world’s most popular messaging app may be facing a new competitor in the form of TikTok.
TikTok has announced two major updates to the social media platform in terms of messaging like group chats and stickers.
Right now it is possible to do one-on-one messaging in Tik Tok, but now this video sharing app can be used for group chats as well.
According to the company, users will now be able to create groups in TikTok and 32 people can be included in each group chat.
Everyone in any group will be able to chat, share videos and comment on those videos.
However, the group chats feature will not be available for users aged 13 to 15 years, while youngsters aged 16 to 17 years will be able to use the group chats feature, but they will face some restrictions.
Users of this age can only be added by their friends in a group chat (ie both must follow each other).
If a teen is sent a link to join a group chat, they won’t be able to join the group until one of their friends joins it.
To give users more control, the app will provide access to mute and block tools to all members of any chat group.
Similarly, users will be able to report against messages of an individual or an entire group for violating the platform’s policies.
Stickers for direct messages are also being introduced by TikTok.
According to the company, users will be able to create their own stickers and share them with others on TikTok or find their favorite stickers and use them for messages and videos while chatting with friends.
