Hafiz Naeem warns of launching anti-govt movement if all roads are blocked

Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that there will be a peaceful sit-in in Islamabad today and the participants of the protest will not return without taking relief.

While talking to the media en route to capital,  The JI chief said that why is the government imposing taxes when it cannot provide basic facilities to the people.

He further said that people are paying bills by selling their household items. They want to get rid of IPPs, who are sucking people’s blood, he added.

Hafiz Naeem said that the government should not obstruct the sit-in as the Jamaat-e-Islami is a peaceful party.

He accused authorities of a crackdown on its members in various cities ahead of a planned sit-in.

The party is set to hold a three-day protest starting from today against rising inflation, claims that police have arrested its leaders and workers to disrupt the demonstration.

There have been numerous incidents of police raids, arrests, and mistreatment of women, the Ji chief claimed.

The JI alleged that former Narowal District Amir Anwar Haq Butt, Tehsil Ameer Altaf Hussain from Hasan Abdal and others have been taken into custody. It said that in Bahawalpur, 10 workers were arrested in Khairpur Tamiwali, and similar actions were reported in Sahiwal.

They party claimed that in Gujranwala, police surrounded the residence of Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Furqan Aziz Butt, though he was not present. In Vehari, seven workers preparing for the sit-in were arrested, causing many workers to go into hiding.
