President Asif Ali Zardari has urged the nation to cultivate qualities of affection, forbearance, and tolerance by setting aside differences and playing a role in strengthening national unity and interfaith harmony in the country.

In a message marking the beginning of the new Islamic year 1446 Hijrah, he extended felicitations to the nation and prayed for peace, stability, progress, and prosperity, as announced by the President’s Secretariat in a press release on Sunday.

President Zardari emphasised the special significance of Muharram-ul-Haram in Islamic history, highlighting the importance of prayers and worship during this month. He stressed the need to avoid sins, adhere to Islamic teachings, and devoutly worship the Almighty, while also reflecting on and introspecting Islamic teachings.

He noted that Muharram-ul-Haram serves as a reminder of the unparalleled sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his loyal companions, underscoring the true objective of life’s struggles, which involves sacrificing everything in the path of religion.
