After Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma won the T20 World Cup, a video went viral in which he tasted the soil of the Barbados pitch.
According to Indian media, Rohit Sharma while talking about his action of tasting the soil of the Barbados pitch said that that the playing field helped him lift the World Cup trophy and he wanted to keep a piece of it (soil) with him.
“It wasn’t all scripted, it just happened, I was feeling every moment, I will always remember in my life that pitch and ground in which we won the T20 World Cup,” the Indian captain said.
Sharma further said: “You know when I went on the pitch I was feeling the moment because this pitch has given us this trophy, those moments were very special, it was where all our dreams came true. I wanted to take something away with me, that’s why I tasted soil of pitch.”

The Men in Blue clinched their second T20 World Cup win with shattering the Proteas’ dreams of winning maiden title at the mega-tournament.
The Rohit Sharma-led side, who lost in the finals of the World Test Championship and the 50-overs home World Cup last year, managed to book South Africa at 169/8, defeating the Proteas by seven runs.
