Do not take these two cough syrups!

The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (Drap) has banned the sale of 4 medicines including two cough syrups terming them as injurious to health.

According to the details, it was emerged that sub-standard and spurious medicines were being sold in Punjab.

The drug testing lab declared 4 batches of 4 medicines and 8 batches of 2 drugs to be harmful to health. Substandard drugs include antibiotics, anti-allergic drops, injections, viral infections, antibiotic eye drops.

The alert said that two cough syrups – Tozen D Suspension and a batch of Arps powder – have been declared unhealthy.

One batch of Metrovan Syrup and N-Vil Injection was also declared substandard while seven batches of Thorax and Zoned Syrup were declared unhealthy.

Ethylene glycol levels in Torax and Zond syrups were found to be above the limit and their sale has been banned.

A product recall alert has been issued for sub-standard, hazardous drugs from Drap. The Punjab Drug Control Directorate had sent the samples to the testing lab.
