The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claimed Sarim Burney has accepted his mistake in the initial statement in the human trafficking case.
The social leader’s wife can also be investigated in the case.
The first FIR 26/2024 has been registered against the social leader and head of Sarim Burney Welfare Trust Saram Barni with the human trafficking cell of FIA on charges of trafficking of children from Pakistan to the US.
In the first case against Burney, a newborn girl named Haya has been accused of smuggling to the US. Among the children there are more than 15 girls.
The FIA officials said that the US investigative agencies are also investigating regarding Sarim Burney and the record of the children transferred to America by the social leader Barni has been provided to the investigation agency from the embassy.
The FIA officials said that after the arrest Sarim Burney has admitted mistake in his initial statement.
Yesterday, tThe Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had arrested renowned social activist Sarim Burney from Karachi airport.
According to sources inside the agency, there were very serious allegations against Sarim Burney, and his movement was being monitored for a very long time.
Sources further said that as soon as Burney arrived at the Jinnah international airport from the USA today (Wednesday), the FIA team arrested him.
