Reserved seats: ECP directed to revisit returned candidates' notification

The Chief Election Commissioner has handed over a letter of Sunni Ittehad Council to Barrister Ali Zafar.

The Election Commissioner said that the head of the Sunni Ittehad Council wrote a letter to the commission on February 26, in which the party said that neither they contested the elections not they want reserved seats. He said that they (SIC) do not want reserved seats, so why are you (PTI) forcing them.

On the occasion, Barrister Ali Zafar expressed his ignorance about the letter of the Sunni Ittehad Council and said that PTI was not told about any such letter by the SIC.

In the previous proceedings, the Chief Election Commissioner recalled that the PTI lawyer had admitted in the Supreme Court that if the bat symbol is taken away from them, they will not get the reserved seats.

The Election Commission heard the petitions related to the reserved seats of the Sunni Ittehad Council. Barrister Gohar Ali and PTI lawyer Ali Zafar appeared before the commission.

PTI lawyer Ali Zafar objected that the Election Commission had decided yesterday to issue notices to all parliamentary parties.

The Chief Election Commissioner replied that we have not called all the parties but only those who are entitled to reserved seats.
