Jamaat-e-Islami protests against hike in flour prices

HYDERABAD: A protest rally was organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Hyderabad on Sunday against the drastic increase in flour prices in the city.

Rally led by district Amir Jamat-e-Islami Hyderabad was taken out from Station Road to Hyder Chowk and was participated by a large number of party workers.

The participants while holding placards and banners inscribed slogans against inflation demanded practical steps to overcome price hike specially increasing rates of wheat flour.

Jamaat-e-Islami leaders while addressing the rally termed the provincial government responsible for the increasing price hike, adding that poor people are being humiliated in the name of providing subsidized flour.

They demanded immediate measures be taken to overcome the price hike.

Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Ameer Naeem-ur-Rehman has urged the people of city to get out of their homes in the local government polls and vote on January 15.

Addressing a massive gathering at Bagh-e-Jinnah here on Sunday, the JI chief emphasized the Election Commission of Pakistan to hold the local bodies polls in the city. He added that the conspirators had always tried forcing a delay in the LG polls process.

Hafiz Naeem further said that the politics of manipulation should come to an end, adding the people of city must be given the right to vote.

He slammed that nobody owns the mega city and its inhabitants were divided on the basis of language.

About the deteriorating law and order situation, the JI chief said that the people of Karachi should be allowed to carry weapons if Rangers and police were not able to protect them.

He said the the JI would usher a revolution in the city, adding that the megalopolis was entering a new phase.

He termed Karachi as the mother of the poor. He added that the city was feeding people despite a plethora of problems.
