National Assembly approves long-awaited 26th constitutional amendment bill

ISLAMABAD: An important meeting of the National Assembly was held today in which opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif presented a no-confidence motion to remove Prime Minister Imran Khan from the post of Prime Minister.

The agenda of the assembly session also included a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan which was tabled in the House with the permission of Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri.

Opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif presented a no-confidence motion after which the supporters and opponents of the movement were counted.

Shehbaz Sharif moved a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan after which the Deputy Speaker National Assembly adjourned the sitting till Thursday, March 31 and said that the no-confidence motion would be debated on March 31.

The National Assembly is scheduled to reconvene on March 31 at 4 p.m.

The National Assembly session began under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri and when the no-confidence motion was moved against Prime Minister Imran Khan, neither the government allies nor the PTI defectors were present in the house.

According to the rules, a no-confidence motion cannot be voted before three days, but after three days and within seven days.

That is, the no-confidence motion could not be voted on March 28, 29 and 30, and the no-confidence motion could be voted on March 31, April 1, April 2 and 3.

Opposition claims that they have more than the required number of votes.

On the other hand, the government also claims that it will be successful in defeating the opposition in the no-confidence motion.
