COLUMBO: Examinations at thousands of school have been cancelled in Sri Lanka due to lack of printing papers.
According to a foreign news agency, Sri Lanka’s shortage of dollars for imports has led to a shortage of paper in the country.

Education officials say exams scheduled to begin on Monday have been canceled. School principals are unable to take exams because the printing presses are short of money to import the necessary paper and ink.
According to officials, two-thirds of the 4.5 million students across the country will be affected by the shortage of printing paper.
It should be noted that Sri Lanka is facing a severe economic crisis and lacks foreign exchange reserves which has made it a challenge for the country to procure basic necessities like food, fuel and medicine.
Crisis-stricken Sri Lanka announced this week that it would seek a bailout package from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to get out of the worst economic crisis since Sri Lanka requested a loan from China.
However, China did not give a clear answer to Sri Lanka.
The IMF, on the other hand, confirmed that it was ready to consider the Sri Lankan president’s request for a bailout package.
