ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has sought authority to impose sales tax on retail price of all general items.
During the Senate’s standing committee on finance, the FBR officials said that POS would also be slapped on houses measuring less than 1,000 square yards through a new amendment since several big businesses were being operated through small shops.

Senator Faisal Subzwari questioned why this amendment was not introduced earlier? Too which, the FBR officials replied that the initiative had been taken to generate revenue.
They said that they wanted to bring all people into tax net.
