LG polls in Peshawar: Presiding officer, husband arrested for alleged rigging

PESHAWAR: Police have arrested a woman presiding officer and her husband deployed at a polling station here.

They have been arrested on charges of pre-poll rigging hours before the start of local government elections in province.

The woman presiding officer was arrested from Council 34, Tehsil Gor Khatri by police.

Her arrest was made after various political parties protested against alleged pre-poll rigging. There were reports that PTI men were stamping ballot papers in favour of their party.

Police shifted the woman presiding officer and her husband to a police station.

Later, the Election Commission of Pakistan taking notice of the incident changed the whole polling staff at the said polling station.
