Under the bill, a department will be formed that will monitor the incidence of Islamophobia. The bill will be sent to the US senate to make it a law.

The development came after the Muslim members of the US Congress last month denounced Lauren Boebert , a member of the House of Representatives belonging to the Republican Party whose Islamophobic remarks came to light.

Taking to Twitter, Muslims Congresswoman Ilhan Omar said the passage of this legislation in the House of Representatives is a huge milestone for Muslims around the world and a powerful signal that Islamophobia cannot be tolerated anywhere.
