Karachi: The Karachi Circular Railway has become a white elephant for the railway department.
According to sources, the circular railway incurred an expenditure of Rs10 million in 20 days and the revenue was just Rs400, 000 .
Sources said that from November 20 to December 10, the railways are spending more than Rs500, 00 per day on circular railways.
The daily cost of locomotives, diesel and power vehicles is Rs250,000 while the daily cost of repairing of the train is more than Rs 200,000.
According to the documents, the Karachi Circular train can carry 500 passengers at a time, but only 30 to 50 passengers travel in the morning from City Station while 80 to 150 passengers travel from the Dhabeji to City Station train.
