ABU DHABI: The UAE has repealed the law that requires a permit for purchasing and drinking liquor.
The move is a part of the plan to promote tourism in the UAE.
Dubai has already eased the law in this connection.
Under the new law, the buyer of wine should not be less than 21 years old. The liquor may be consumed at a private or a specific place. However, it is still unclear if a Muslim can buy liquor.
Earlier, the liquor permits were only issued to the non-Muslims.
