KABUL: Now the mothers’ name of a child will also be written on the his/her national identity card (NIC) and the birth certificate in Afghanistan.
In this connection, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Monday signed a law after which name of a new-born child’s mother will also be mentioned on birth certificate and the NIC.
The development has come on the long-standing demand of the human rights organisations.
The law has been signed at a time when the peace talks between the Afghan government and Taliban were being taken place in Doha.
