Punjab police fail to arrest 60pc culprits of gang-rape in 6 months

LAHORE: The Punjab police have failed to arrest 60 per cent of the accused involved in gang-rape cases occurred during the first six months in 2020.

Sources said that a total of 77 cases of gang-rape were reported during the first six months (January-June) across Punjab. Of them, the police had only managed to arrest 40 per cent of the accused involved in these rape cases.

The Punjab police had failed to arrest 60 per cent accused of gang-rape in the province.

According to a report, the highest number of gang-rape cases (30) were taken place in Gujranwala while 12 were occurred in Faisalabad.

The report added that nine cases were reported in Multan, seven in Lahore, six in DG Khan, five each in Rawalpindi and Sheikupura while one each in Bahawalpur and Sahiwal regions.
