Eight miners killed as mine collapsed in Charsadda

Charsadda: A marble mine collapsed in Mohmand district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing eight workers here on Monday.

According to District Police Officer Tariq Habib, the incident took place in Safi Tehsil where several people were buried under the rubble.

The DPO said that the bodies of eight labourers and six injured were recovered from the wreckage and they were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Deputy Commissioner Iftikhar Alam said more deaths were feared in the accident.

He added that heavy machinery has been called in from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) for rescue operations.

According to rescue officials, additional rescue personnel from Peshawar and Charsadda have reached Mohmand District where they are carrying out the search and rescue operation with the help of heavy machinery.
