ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that we could not present our views at the diplomatic level due to absence of a foreign minister for a long time.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday, Qureshi said that it was an attempt of India to push Pakistan towards diplomatic isolation. He said that today China, Nepal and Bangladesh are questioning India, which wanted to separate us from South Asia but now South Asian countries are questioning it.
The Foreign Minister said that we are transforming China’s strategic relations into economic relations, adding that China is our tried and tested friend, economic goals have been set in CPEC II.
Qureshi further said that the idea of promoting trade with Turkey has become a reality. We want to turn the ideal friendship with neighbouring countries into a new economic partnership. When the Prime Minister went to Turkey, it was decided at the lunch table that trade should be promoted. “We didn’t focus on Africa, we tried to access the African market. Africa is a huge market, we didn’t focus, but now new embassies were being opened in Africa and we increased trade with African countries,” he added.
