KARACHI: Alleged embezzlement of Rs8 million has been unearthed in the supply of power generators to a quarantine center set up for the prevention of coronavirus in the city, it is learnt.
Sources said that a 4-grade driver was found involved in the corruption.
According to a local website, the driver involved in corruption has recently got the post of Non-Cadre Nursing Attendant by taking fake promotion in District Health Officer (West).
According to health department sources, investigations into the involvement of Deputy Director Procurement Dr Muhammad Ayub, Accounts Officer Khalil Bhutto and store keeper Shahnawaz Bajwa in Corona’s funds were still underway when generators were supplied less than the demand to a quarantine center set up for Pakistanis returned from abroad on the Southern Bypass by the health department.
The sources said that about Rs8 million was embezzled by providing less generators than the required for the quarantine center.
According to the preliminary investigation, a 4th grade nursing attendant of the health department of Karachi is said to be the main culprit in this corruption.
