Three killed after blasphemous FB post in India’s Bangalore

Bangalore: Riots erupted in the IT hub after a blasphemous facebook post about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by a close relative of a local Congress MLA.

At least three people were killed in the violence that began at 7pm on Tuesday and lasted for about five hours resulting in the arrest of over 110 people.

According to Times of India, the riots erupted after a close relative of Congress MLA Akhanda Srinivasamurthy p, Naveen, posted a blasphemous post about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on Facebook. However, the post was later removed from the social networking site.

Reacting to the FB post, protesters reached the residence of the MLA and set on fire two vehicles.

The police commissioner of Bangalore took to Twitter and said that the accused, the relative of Congress MLA, had been arrested alongwith over 100 protesters.
