Karachi: Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani has warned that if the situation worsens due to the coronavirus, the schools will not reopen from September 15.
It may be recalled that educational institutions in the country have been closed since March due to coronavirus and yesterday a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood has decided to reopen them from September 15.
Speaking on the Geo News morning show ‘Geo Pakistan‘, Saeed Ghani said that the decision to open the school would be taken by the government and not by the private school association.
“Reports from different countries are not very good. Coronavirus has re-emerged in some countries. We don’t want such a situation. If the situation worsens, schools may not open on September 15,” he said.
Earlier on Wednesday, an inter-provincial online video conference chaired by Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood had decided to reopen schools across the country from Sept 15.
The meeting was also attended by ministers and education secretaries of all provinces.
The conference discussed the opening of educational institutions, including important issues related to education.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had suggested to reopen schools from Sept 1, but the other provinces opposed it.
