Manchester: Babar Azam scored a half-century in the first innings of the first Test match against England here on Wednesday, becoming the seventh Pakistani to score 50 or more in five consecutive innings.

Pakistan had scored 139 runs for the loss of 2 wickets on the first day of play.

Earlier, Pakistan had won the toss and elected to bat first.

Babar Azam and Shan Masood are on the crease who have scored 69 and 46 runs respectively.

Babar Azam has become the seventh Pakistani to score fifty or more in five consecutive innings.

Zaheer Abbas, Muhammad Yusuf, Misbah-ul-Haq, Saeed Anwar, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Sarfraz Ahmed have already done this feat.

Babar Azam’s five innings include three centuries and two half-centuries.
