Karachi: The domestic gold price soared by Rs4, 800 per tola to an all-time high of Rs128, 700 here on Wednesday.
According to the Sindh Sarafa Bazaar Jewelers Association, the price of gold increased by Rs4, 800 to Rs128,700 per tola.
In the international market, the price of yellow metal rose by $66 to $2,041 an ounce.
It may be recalled that in February 2019, the price of gold per tola was Rs68,500. Due to the coronavirus, the value of gold has increased rapidly globally.
The price of gold has jumped due to increased investment in the yellow metal in the wake of rising tensions between the US and China and devaluation of major currencies.
Meanwhile, the US dollar has risen further by 58 paise in the interbank market, after which the dollar has risen to Rs168.22 in the interbank market.
In the open market, the dollar rose by 60 paise to Rs168.80.
