New Delhi: A record 54,000 cases of coronavirus were reported in a single day in India, after which the number of virus patients in the country exceeded 1.7 million.
According to Indian media, over 100,000 cases of coronavirus were reported in India in just two days on Saturday and Sunday, with the highest number of 54,735 cases being reported in one day, bringing the total number of patients in India to over 1. 7 million.
The Indian health ministry said that 853 people have died from coronavirus in the country in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 37,364, while more than 1,145,000 patients have recovered so far.
The Maharashtra state is the most affected by Coronavirus where the number of active cases is around 1.5 million and the death toll has crossed 15,000 while a total of 431,000 cases have been reported in the state.
In addition, the number of deaths from the virus in Tamil Nadu has exceeded 4,000, where the number of Coronaviruscases is more than one million.
The health ministry said that the number of coronavirus cases in Andhra Pradesh has crossed 140,000, with more than 126,000 cases reported in July alone.
