Eid prayers offered at Hagia Sophia after 86 years

Istanbul: For the first time in 86 years, the Eidul Azha prayers were offered at the historic Hagia Sophia Mosque today in Istanbul.

According to Turkish media, the biggest Eidul Azha gathering in the country took place in Hagia Sophia, in which thousands of people prayed in congregation.

In the wake of coronavirus, the worshipers took precautionary measures while maintaining social distance. Thousands of people offered the Eid prayers led by Ali Arbas, the Head of Religious Affairs.

The Speaker of parliament, ministers, top officials, district mayors and other dignitaries also offered prayers at the historic mosque.

On the occasiom, special prayers were offered for the security of the Muslim Ummah, the country and the glory of Islam.
