KARACHI: K-Electric has been issued a show-cause notice by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) over unannounced loadshedding in Karachi.

The decision has been taken in the light of the findings of the Nepra investigation report.

The report had held the K-Electric responsible for the unannounced loadshedding in the city.

It said that K-Electric had violated the rules of licence, under which the power distribution company was responsible to supply electricity to the consumers. The consumers are not responsible for the unavailability of oil to the power plants.

It may be mentioned that despite the assurances of the federal government and the governor of Sindh, the duration of power loadshedding in Karachi has increased from 12 to 14 hours due to which the citizens are facing difficulties in the scorching heat.
