KARACHI: The mercury shot up to 42 C degrees Celsius in Karachi here on Friday, breaking a 38-year record.
According to details, temperature in the port city had touched 42 C in the afternoon, which is the highest in 38 years in the month of July.
In July 1982, the city had experienced 41 C for the first time.
The Met Office said that sea breeze, which provides relief to the people, had stopped, causing hot weather conditions.
It added that the weather conditions would get better at tonight after a rain.
Meanwhile, the Met Office had forecast rain and dust storm for Karachi today, in a second spell of monsoon.
According to the Met Office, the city will receive rain with thunder and dust storm.
Met Office Director General Sardar Sarfaraz had said that the city may receive rain with thunder and strong winds.
He added that the second spell of monsoon rains would last till Saturday or Sunday in the city.
