ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal on Thursday ordered an inquiry against the K-Electric over public complaints of over-billing.

In a statement issued by the NAB, there are allegations of over-billing worth billions of rupees alongwith unannounced loadshedding against the K-Electric.

The statement added that there are also charges against the KE of violating an agreement regarding making investment for power generation.

The NAB chief has directed the anti-graft watchdog to collect the copy of KE agreement with the government and other related documents alongwith details of investment.

He also directed to complete the inquiry within three months against the KE.

Meanwhile, experts see the development as a gimmick on the part of the government and other quarters to ease the growing pressure from the K-Electric which has failed to provide uninterrupted power supply to the citizens during the sizzling summer season.
