Plan made by Steel Mills management is just a destruction, remarks CJ

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed on Thursday remarked that the plan made by the management of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) was only a destruction.

The Chief Justice heard a case concerning promotions of Steel Mills employees.

The CJ expressed his anger over the management of the Steel Mills and observed that its plan chalked out for the mills was just a destruction. Exhibiting more cleverness on the part of PSM has resulted in a destruction.

He observed that the PSM cannot expel all the employees. To which, the additional attorney general told the court that the cabinet had not decided to sack all the employees.

The CJ remarked that over 5,000 cases would be registered if the PSM employees were sacked in this way.

The counsel for the PSM, Nayyar Rizvi said that Rs40 billion will be required to sack the employees. The mill will be run under the public-private partnership, he added.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing for a month.
