Islamabad: The opposition benches in Senate on Monday foiled the government’s bid to move a motion seeking a Constitutional amendment to the National Finance Commission NFC Award.
Senator Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif was not permitted to move the motion in the house as 25 members opposed the bill whereas only 17 supported it.
PTI, MQM-P and BAP supported the bill while PML-N, PPP, JI, JUI, BNP-Mengal and others opposed.
Heated debate was witnessed between the opposition and treasury members on the occasion.
Recently, Prime Minister Imran Khan had said the 18th Amendment was needed to be reviewed and termed the NFC Award as impractical.
