Karachi: The Jamaat-e-Islami on Friday urged the federal government to take over the control of the K-Electric over its poor performance.

The demand was made by JI Karachi Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman while addressing a protest held in front of the Sindh High Court here.

The JI has organsied protests at over 100 places in the city today against the unnanounced loadshedding, over-billing and increase in tariff by the KE.

Hafiz Naeem questioned why the PTI lawmakers were protesting against the KE as their own government had increased tariff for Karachi.

We were not allowed to participate in the Nepra hearing held today. KE CEO Arif Naqvi is a thief but he has now become a part of the federal government, he said.

The JI leader said that KE was issuing inflated bills and carrying out prolonged unannounced loadshedding in the city during the sizzling summer.
