Loadshedding: Jamaat-e-Islami to protest today at over 100 places in Karachi

Karachi: The Jamaat-e-Islami will hold protests against the unannounced loadshedding, over billing and increase in tariff by K-Electric at over 100 places in the city today.

It has also announced to hold a sit-in against K-E on the Shahrea Faisal at Nursery on Saturday.

This was shared with the media during a presser by JI Karachi Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman the other day.

Hafiz Naeem demanded of the Supreme Court to take notice and immediately cancel the licence of K-Electric and nationalise the power company. He also asked for carrying out forensic audit of the KE.

He said that a committee comprising stakeholders should be formed so that no state company could be privatised in future.

Jamaat-e-Islami wants to address the issue of the people of Karachi peacefully. If any attempt is made to create hurdle in holding the protests then the provincial government and the law enforcement agencies would be responsible for the situation.

The JI leader appealed to the citizens to join the protests against the loadshedding, over billing and increase in tariff.
