DOHA: A spokesman for Afghan Taliban’s political office has said all the prisoners should be released or else the intra-Afghan talks would not be started.

Speaking to a British media house, Sohail Shaheen said that several Taliban had been freed so far and the remaining should also be released immediately.

The delay in freeing the prisoners is causing a delay in starting intra-Afghan talks, he added. All the prisoners should immediately be released so that the talks could start.

The spokesman said :”We have asked the US to fulfil its due responsibility so that the all the prisoners could be released.”

Recently, the Afghan government had announced that over 4,000 Taliban had been released. However, it said that 600 prisoners demanded by the Taliban could not be freed as they are facing cases of war crimes.
