ISLAMABAD: PML-Q leader and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Wednesday termed the construction of a new temple in Islamabad as against the spirit of Islam.
In a TV interview, the PML-Q leader said that the construction of new temple is also a desecration of the State of Madinah.
We support the rights of minorities but the maintenance should be carried out of the old temples, he added.
Elahi recalled that he, during his tenure, had carried out the maintenance work of Katas Raj Temple.
He said that he had also earmarked funds for the maintenance of Churches.
According to documents, the land for the temple was allotted during the previous government, which was approved by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in 2016.
