ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning Asad Umar on Friday warned that the threat of coronavirus has not over yet and if the safety precautions were not adopted the situation may become worse.

Speaking to the media here, the federal minister said that the 20 cities have been hit hard by the pandemic and smart lockdown was imposed there since the mid of May.

There were two weeks, when hospitals in major cities came under pressure and it was  anticipated that the number of cases would reach 300,000 by June-end, Umar said. But due to the precautionary measures now it is likely to hit 225,000 this month.

The spread of coronavirus could be controlled if we all play our role, the federal minister said.

He said that action had been taken against those found violating the standard operating procedures.

Umar warned that the threat of virus has not over yet and the situation may become worse if precautionary measures are not adopted.
