EU countries sign advance agreement to buy Covid-19 vaccine

LONDON: The European Union countries have signed advanced agreements with a British pharmaceutical firm to buy a possible vaccine being prepared for Covid-19. 

According to media reports, several EU countries including Germany, Italy, France and Holland have signed a contract with the pharma company to purchase the vaccine, which is currently under the process of trials in cooperation with the Oxford University.

Once prepared, the drug firm will provide the vaccine to these countries on a priority basis.

The firm hopes to prepare the drug by end of 2020 and provide about 40 million vaccines to these EU countries.

The drug company has also signed agreements with the British government, the US, and several pharma firms including an Indian medicine company.
