LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday rejected the idea of a complete lockdown in Punjab, saying there will be a smart lockdown in the province.
In a media briefing here, the prime minister said that wearing face masks at public places is a must, adding a strict action would be taken on the complaints of volunteers.
He said that he had made a decision in consultation with the Punjab government to close down hot spots in the province.
It is a duty of masses to follow the standard operating procedures SOPs, the prime minister said. The country will suffer a loss if masses do not follow safety guidelines.
He said that a mega city like New York had gone bankrupt due to the lockdown.
Recently, the World Health Organisation WHO had warned Punjab over a rising number of Covid-19 cases in the province.
The world body recommended a two-week complete lockdown in the province to slow the spread of the virus.
