Parts of Beijing placed under lockdown after fresh Covid-19 cases

BEIJING: Lockdown has been reimposed in several parts of Beijing after six new coronavirus cases reported on Saturday.

Fears have grown of local resurgence in local transmission.

Citizens in 11 residential estates have been advised not to leave their homes in Fengtai district.

Addressing a presser, the local administration officials claimed that the most of the cases are linked to a nearby meat market.

They said that the first positive case in two months in Beijing had visited the Xinfadi meat market last weak. They added that the virus carrier had no record of traveling outside Beijing.

The authorities have closed the Xinfadi meat market and one another seafood market in the city.
