ISLAMABAD: Keeping in view the rising number of coronavirus infections in the country, the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday retracted its order to open the markets on Saturdays and Sundays.
A four-member bench led by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed heard the suo moto case concerning the coronavirus.
During the hearing, the Chief Justice observed that the government has not made legislation till-to-date for the protection from the coronavirus.
The Attorney General told the court that the provinces had made laws in this connection.
Chief Justice Gulzar remarked that the legislation should be made on the national level.
He added the federal government should had a lead role in this regard.
He observed that if all the departments could work then why can’t the parliament
“We don’t know when and where the number of infections will halt,’ remarked Justice Ejazul Hassan.
