KARACHI: A low-pressure of air in the south-east of the Arabian Sea has converted into a depression, the Met Office said on Monday.
Meteorological Department Director Sardar Safaraz said that the depression is 1285 kilometers away from Karachi while it is at a distance of 580 kilometers from Mumbai.
He said that the depression may convert into a cyclone within the next 24 to 36 hours. However, the direction of the cyclone will be towards Mumbai or Gujarat, he added.
The Met official said that there would be no threat to the Pakistani coastal areas from the cyclone. He advised the fishermen to avoid going into deep waters.
Partially cloudy and hot weather will persist in Karachi over the next three days, he added.
