KARACHI: At least 20 people were killed and 40 others injured when two Karachi-bound trains collided near Landhi Railway Station on Thursday morning.
As per details, Zakaria Express rammed into Fareed Express stationed at Landhi Station after the its driver ignored signal. As a result, 20 people were killed, including women and children and 40 others injured.
Five coaches of Fareed Express had badly damaged in the accident. Both trains were running to Karachi from Punjab.
Rescue team rushed to the scene. Bodies and injured are being shifted to Jinnah Hospital, Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and Civil Hospital where emergency has been declared.
Prime Minister Nawaz expressing grief over loss of lives ordered inquiry into the incident.
Rail tracks have been cleared for traffic.
