12th Rabiul Awal being celebrated with religious zeal and fervor

ISLAMABAD: The 12th of Rabiul Awal is being celebrated with with religious fervour and enthusiasm to pay homage to the last Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him (PBUH) who was born on the date in accordance with Islamic calender.

Public holiday has been announced on Monday (today). Special Conferences, events and Mahafil-e-Naat have been arranged to pay respect to the last messenger whose whole life and teachings are beacon of light for humanity. Seerat Conferences will also be organized at the provincial headquarters and other main cities and towns.

Prominent Ulema will highlight various aspects of Seerat-un Nabi (PBUH) calling upon people to follow the teachings of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) for their salvation.

Mohafil-i-Milad would be organized and processions would be taken out across the country.

Various religious, social, academic and political organizations would hold a number of programmes on the occasion to celebrate the day.

In Karachi, the main procession of 12th Rabi-ul-Awal in Karachi will start from Memon Masjid and culminate at Nishter Park.

The Sindh police have made elaborate security arrangements on the occasion. The radio, television will air special programme to mark the occasion, while newspapers will publish special supplements in this regard.

More than 47,000 police officers and jawans (troops) would perform security duty in Sindh on 12th Rabi ul Awwal.

A spokesman of Sindh police said that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, A.D. Khawaja, had directed that foolproof security arrangements would be made on the occasion.

In Karachi, 4,860 police officers and jawans would be deputed for security of the main procession.

Meanwhile, the city streets, buildings and places of worships have been illuminated and decorated with flags and buntings.

The District Municipal Corporations (DMC) have made arrangements for the cleanliness and provision of civic amenities especially along the routes of the main procession of 12th Rabiul Awal.

The Minister of Water and Power has directed that there should be no routine loadshedding in the occasion.

In the federal capital, Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has devised a special plan to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city during processions on 12th Rabi ul Awal (Eid Milad un Nabi).

A total of 300 traffic cops including SP (Traffic), four DSPs, 16 inspectors would perform duties on the occasion while ITP FM Radio 92.4 would keep informing the citizens about situation on various roads. The main procession on 12th Rabi ul Awal will start at 11 am from Masjid Al-Raza at Khadda Market and will culminate at Shrine of Sakhi Mehmood at 4 pm after passing through Saddar road, Habib Market, Service Road Kalsoom Plaza Fazal-e-Haq Road, Imambargah Luqman Hakeem Road, CDA hospital, Shuhda Chowk, Melody Chowk and Aabpara Market.  During the procession, roads leading to Iqbal Hall Saddar Road from Sitara Market, Iqbal Hall to Service Road G-7/3-1 towards Razia Sharif Plaza, Fazal-e-Haq road China chowk to Razia Sharif Plaza, Shuhda Chowk and GPO Chowk to Melody and Aabpara Chowk, 7th avenue (Aabpara Chowk to Sehrwardy road) and Kashmir Highway from Chand Tara Chowk to Dhokri Chowk will remain close during the procession hours.

Police officials will remain present at various roads to guide road users as small processions will be also taken out from various areas to merge later in main procession.

SSP (Traffic) Malik Matloob has appealed the citizens to remain alert and inform police in case of any suspicious activity around them. —Agencies
