BEIJING: At least 126 students from Pakistan have arrived here for two-year programme to learn Chinese language on fully funded scholarships by Chief Minister Punjab Scheme.
This is the second batch of the students in a year and out of them, 39 selected students will learn Chinese language in Beijing Language and Culture University and 47 in a prominent university of Shanghai and 40 in University of Yanshan.
One of the students of Chinese learning programme said “we will try our best to learn Chinese language in two years and pass an exam of Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Level 5 or 6 as per requirement of this programme”.
According to the students, the demand of learning Chinese language was rapidly increasing in the world and Chinese universities were also improving their world ranking.
The students appreciated the Punjab Government for taking this remarkable step and demanded of the federal government and other provincial governments to provide their youth the similar opportunity of learning Chinese language realizing it as need of the hour since China has become the world’s second biggest economy and has proved its mettle across the world.
Under this programme, total 500 students will be brought to China for learning Chinese language and Punjab government will bear all of their expenditures.
